Join me in a letter-writing campaign to get Levon Helm on a U.S postage stamp!
Hey Band fans! Last year, I kinda quietly started a loose, grass-roots campaign on Instagram to kickstart a letter-writing campaign to get Levon Helm honored on a U.S postage stamp. Gained a little traction, but I decided to revisit it and post a page here as well as a post on Facebook and Reddit to see if we can get some more participation. I think it would be a very cool way to honor his memory. Many of his peers have already been featured on a stamp. Most recently, the great Allen Toussaint this year. All it takes to participate is a few minutes of your time to compose a snail mail letter, an envelope and first class or 'forever' postage stamp to be sent to the Stamp Advisory Committee. Must be a physical letter. They don't accept emails or social media posts.

It's not something that would happen overnight. It will take some time if they get enough folks asking for it. A professional designer would obviously put together whatever the final stamp image would be.
Would like to see them get a ton more letters! It's a win for the postal service as well, folks buying stamps and letters to be mailed which keeps them working. I had the honor of meeting Levon once and he's been a musical inspiration to me for many years. So I think this would be a nice opportunity to honor his legacy in some small way as the influential American musician he was. So if you have already sent a letter out, thank you!
